After the band negotiated several recording contracts, Tim & Mark felt it was time to start their own recording studio. The original studio, which opened in December, 1979, started out as an 8-track analog setup and was used primarily for the recording of the band's demos. When the band signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records, it became obvious that the studio needed to grow.
To create an additional income that would allow them to expand the studio's capabilities, Tim started to record local bands, (most of them were friends) & began recording radio promo spots. By the late 1980's Basement Floor Productions became a popular place for talented musicians in the Baltimore-Washington area to record their demos and independent releases.
